Thanks Ahmed for the kind words in the post.

Whenever we tell people the detail of the data we are collecting and how we do it, they tell us we are crazy and, while we are a little crazy, we think it's what it takes to bring local search results to the next level.

i wonder if everything can be standardized and put into 1 data source, like addons to a single datasource etc.... theres so much data that can compiled from local sources and would be so useful.

Hi Ahmed,

Thanks for the kind words re LDC. The local arena here in the U.K. is still going strong and I'd expect 2009 to, finally, (and dare I say it!), see a few companies actually nail the local/mobile area.

I love what Yipit is doing too. I'm not aware of anyone doing something similar over here as of yet; although there are a few start-ups that have the capacity to connect with retailers and consumers in a similar vein - so you never know.

All the very best and don't forget to say hi should you make it across the pond at some point.

Ahmed,

If you are looking for the furniture in the city, I suggest you to explore South Brooklyn Area. Priced half less than in the city, amazing selection of the styles and quality. Ranging from knockoffs to original (serial numbers) European collections.

I wish YipIt guys would go out of Manhattan and indexed McDonald Ave area and Sheesphead Bay. Lots of worthy furniture stores are there :) Good luck!
