We keep an eye out for mentions of our properties. Two reasons: 1) useful suggestions and 2) mis-information
I recently read this post on optimizing a specific website. One of their suggestions was the following:
Check stat metrics and see when the last time BlogTopSites or BlogFlux sent you traffic — you’d be surprised. Why advertise for a site that isn’t sending you any readers?
Luckily, I have all the stats I need to back up our claims.
I ran some quick numbers on both Blog Top Sites and Blog Flux that counts the number of sites that have gotten a minimum number of hits:
| Referer | Over 10 Hits | Over 100 Hits | Over 1000 Hits | Over 10,000 Hits | Over 25,000 Hits |
| Blog Top Sites | 25,299 | 4212 | 336 | 7 | 4 |
| Blog Flux | 47,353 | 13,016 | 132 | 11 | 9 |
So not only do they generate traffic, but they can send quite a bit.
Two other things:
1. You don’t need to link to Blog Flux to be listed. Never have, never will. People do because they like what we’ve built
2. Blog Top Sites is also a source of uniques/pageviews. It’s simple, but quite a few people use it as their basic stat-tracker
Overall, Blog Top Sites has sent out roughly 2.9 million hits, and Blog Flux has sent out over 4.5 million. Combined, the two get over 40,000 unique visitors a day - surely you want the chance to have your blog appear before them! ![]()

You’re right — I was basing that advice on my experience with other blog directories. I’m trying out BlogFlux and Blog Top Sites now for the first time so that I can avoid making the mistake of painting all blog directories with the same paintbrush in the future.
Thank you.

One question… do sites only get added to the lists on the resets? I should be at around #14 on the top technology list based on uniques/week.

Sites are manually approved - BTS has a backlog of roughly 1000+, so it should get approved in the next few days.
