ReachLocal - recipient of $67million in funding.
The footer includes a link to ReachLocal Directory … which is nothing more than an ODP directory.
What exactly is the point of having that?
UPDATE: Fixed the funding - I had erroneously noted it as $160 million. Someone from RL did contact me about this - I was told that it is just an old directory page … but I fail to see why it is linked from their front page still.

Trying to make themselves look bigger than they actually are to non-savvy web users? Or trying to hoodwink investors wondering how their money is being spent?
But given that much of ODP is hardly very local, it does seem like a very strange move.

As you continuously predict, local search is strong and will only get stronger and more popular in the future.
Maybe these investors are just seeing the possible potential of ReachLocal?

Except it is delivering zilch SEO-wise. And it also just looks … terrible and unprofessional.

Not for SEO.
http://www.reachlocal.com/directory redirects to http://search.reachlocal.com/search/ and http://search.reachlocal.com/robots.txt disallows all robot access.

Right - so why bother having it?
Bizarre.
